Jerome & Verde Canyon Rail Tour
Our Jerome and Verde Canyon Rail Tour features the best parts of Central Arizona. Jerome is loaded with the history of the largest copper mine that ever operated in Arizona. This hillside town produced enough copper to share 13 pounds with every resident of the world! Browse the shops and galleries of artists that have moved in since the mine closed in 1953. It is no surprise that artists chose this spot for studios and galleries due to the amazing views across the Verde Valley. Talk about visibility, you can see the San Francisco Peaks towering over the Colorado Plateau from the Jerome Grand Hotel, which by the way, is haunted!! After lunch in Jerome, we head down the hill to Clarkdale and the Verde Canyon Railroad. This 4 hour adventure takes you through some of the most scenic landscape in Central Arizona. Past the old smelters complete with towering mountains of slag, alongside steep canyons overlooking the Verde River below and through mountain tunnels to the old railstop of Perkinsville.
