Historic Route 66 Loop Tour
The Arizona portion of Route 66 offers some of the most memorable spots on the historic road from Chicago to Los Angeles. With nicknames such as the “Mother Road”, “Will Rogers Highway”, and “Main Street of America”, this amazing road brings back fond memories or yesteryear. See the roadside scenery, motels and restaurants that inspired many movie scenes…. including the row of buildings that inspired “Radiator Springs” in the animated film, “Cars”. This tour leaves Phoenix on a loop that takes you through some of the most incredible Sonoran Desert scenery on the way toward Flagstaff and onward to Williams and Seligman. You will have some free time in Old Town Flagstaff to explore before heading on to Williams. Williams has a row of Route 66 memorabilia shops in the historic old town area. There are also some great options for you to get yourselves lunch such as the Pine Country Restaurant or Cruisers Cafe. One of my favorite shops has everything from hot sauce to jerky to gourmet sodas, some of them made by aliens! Opt for a visit to the Grand Canyon Railroad Depot before departing for Seligman…. a small town just off of I-40 where the essence of Route 66 lives on. Old cars, historic gas stations, and all sorts of Route 66 nostalgia all in one spot!
